On 19 July 2009 the Remetea sports center, built with nearly €1 million in government support was officially opened. Since then the much-needed facility has been almost continuously in use: mornings and afternoons it is used mainly by schoolchildren, while the pitch is taken over by adults from late afternoon onward. Since the hall opened, local mini-football and handball have flourished, table tennis activity has increased, and women as well as men and children have begun to take part in regular sport.
An outdoor artificial-turf pitch has further enriched the local sporting life. The new sports infrastructure created new opportunities for every age group who want to exercise or play sport. On average about 120 people use the facility each week. The hall can host championships and tournaments in handball, football, karate and judo at local, district, county and national levels. The surroundings were improved with the installation of an artificial turf outdoor pitch and a playground.
