Remetea hosts a rich calendar of seasonal camps and meetings that celebrate music, dance, crafts and rural life. These events — from folk dance and traditional crafts camps to children’s brass-band weeks, horse-riding camps and youth theatre gatherings — combine hands-on learning with community celebration. Many of the camps are intensive: daily rehearsals or workshops, guest instructors, public performances and competitions that let participants show what they’ve learned.
Why so many? In Remetea cultural continuity is a community priority. Camps are a practical way to pass skills and stories between generations, keep local musical and dance traditions alive, and engage young people in heritage work rather than letting it fade. They also bring people together from across the region, strengthen local identity, and attract visitors who want an authentic experience of Gyergyó’s living traditions.
