The Mayor:
-
is the commune’s executive authority;
-
is elected by direct vote for a four-year term;
-
is the head of local administration and specialized public services;
-
represents the commune.
Matters within the mayor’s competence:
-
Responsible for managing assets belonging to the commune’s public and private estate.
-
Prepares the draft local budget; ex officio or on request reviews the revenue and expenditure items of the local budget.

Takes various measures and, in order to draw up the town-planning / public order plan, acts in emergency situations (natural disasters, epidemics) and controls the storage of household, industrial or other types of waste.

Ensures public order and supervises activities taking place in public spaces.
-
Appoints and dismisses staff in his own administrative bodies.
-
Serves as civil registrar (performs registry duties).
-
May initiate the calling of a local referendum.
