Founded: 2017
Kereszthegy Sport Club was established in 2017 to continue the activities of the former Kereszthegy Sport Association and to meet the requirements of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) for indoor football (futsal) competitions.
Under the old association’s name the team participated several times in the Harghita County futsal championship and achieved good results. However, club members felt they could compete at a higher level and consequently registered for the national Romanian futsal championship (2nd League) in 2017.
At first the team relied on local and nearby-towns’ talents, but as ambitions grew it became clear that more experienced players were needed. The club therefore recruited talented and seasoned futsal players from other parts of Harghita County. As a result, they succeeded in signing several key players from the former, multi-champion Imperial Wet Miercurea Ciuc, which gave new momentum to Kereszthegy’s play.
At the start of the 2023 season the squad was strengthened again: a number of players from FK Odorheiu Secuiesc joined, so the team’s backbone was formed by athletes from the three Harghita subregions — Gheorgheni, Miercurea Ciuc and Odorheiu Secuiesc. This cooperation provided the “perfect recipe” for success.
Thanks to sustained work, Kereszthegy Sport Club:
reached the Romanian Cup semi-finals (top four) in 2023;
won the Romanian Futsal 2nd League in 2024 and 2025, becoming two-time champions.

2024 Champions

2025 Champions
By winning the 2025 title the club earned the right to play in the first division. The management decided, however, that they do not want merely to appear in the top tier as tourists: the aim is proper preparation and building a squad capable of competing in the first league.
The club operates across several age groups like, senior, U19 and school categories, thereby promoting youth participation in sport and developing local talent.
The management places special emphasis on youth development and on teaching young people how to work as a community and a team, to cooperate, respect one another and follow rules through sport.
According to the club’s philosophy, sport is not merely competition but an educative process that builds character, discipline and communal values.
